Some information about fabric thickness from textile engineer:
[Thin fabric] Thin fabric is often made with expensive fiber because the fiber has to be longer (long-staple fibers) and its diameter has to be consistent/uniform. This thin & more expensive fiber is softer and makes the fabric more comfortable when worn.
[Thick fabric] Thick fabric often has more space between the yarn during weaving. Thick fabric is also often made with cheaper fiber and the fiber has less consistent/uniform diameter.
Therefore, thick fabric does not mean it is better or provide better protection; Someone might think heavy or thick fabric is better when used in face masks, but it is not about fabric thickness that makes the masks better.
